33 Moving away, reversing and turning The driver, who wants to move his vehicle into the traffic, turn or drive backwards, must not hinder other road users, they have priority. The driver has to make sure before leaving, that he does not endanger anyone. Reverse driving is only allowed with walking pace (5 km/h). It is forbidden to drive back over the railway junctions and unclear road junctions. In the case of vehicles with a limited rear view, if driving backwards is not possible without danger, a helper must be consulted. For longer distances, reversing is only permitted, if continuation or turning is not possible. Avoid turning the vehicle on the road. It is forbidden to turn in places with poor visibility, with the sign "U-turns not allowed" (246) and in heavy traffic. If the driver of a bus at a bus-stop announces his intention to leave, by using the direction indicators, drivers approaching from behind must, if necessary, either slow down or stop so that the bus driver can drive away.
