Driving Rules

37 Avoiding noise and smoke

When driving a motor vehicle, the generation of avoidable noises and smoke must be avoided.

Above all, it is forbidden to:

a. To make continuous, improper use of the starter and unnecessary warming-up and running of the engine, when the vehicle is at a standstill.
b. High engine speeds when idling and when driving in low gears.
c. Overly fast acceleration of the vehicle, especially during start-up.
d. Continued unnecessary driving around in towns.
e. Banging of doors, bonnets and boot lids.
f. Disturbances caused by sound reproducing devices installed or carried in the vehicle.

The engine must also be turned off at shorter stops, if this does not impeded departure.

38 Protection of the roadway

The drivers must avoid any contamination of the road. Before a vehicle leaves roadworks, pits or fields, the driver has to clean the wheels. If a road has been polluted, then he must warn the other road users and arrange cleaning as soon as possible.

The driver should drive on dusty, dirty or wet roads, especially in the snow melt, in such a way that road users and residents are not impacted.
