35 Towing The maximum speed during towing is 40 km/h. The towing signal must be fitted to the rear of the towed vehicle while towing. The towed vehicle must be driven by a driver with a license for the vehicle, except if the towing device ensures its own steering. Motor vehicles (other than motorcycles) may carry no more than one other motor vehicle without a trailer, motorcycles no more than one motorcycle. Towing is prohibited if the vehicle to be towed still has useable pedals. Towing bars must not be longer than 5 m long, tow ropes maximum 8 m long. The rope must be marked prominently in the middle. Only one motorcycle can be towed with a rope. The rope must be fastened in such a way that the motorcycle rider can immediately release it in an emergency.
