Driving Rules

24 Moving into the correct lane

Moving into the correct lane creates space for following vehicles and keeps the traffic flowing.

The vehicle driver must consider the oncoming traffic and the vehicles following him. The move into the left/right lane is to be indicated with the direction indicator.

When turning, the driver has to move early. It is also necessary to move into the correct lane on narrow roads, outside of road junctions (for example, in front of garages) and, if possible, on narrow roads.

If you want to turn right, you have to keep to the right side of the road. When you turn to the left move to the middle. For vehicles who have moved towards the middle of the road, proceed to the right.

When entering the road, the lane intended for the oncoming traffic is to be freed up. On three-lane roads, with or without markings, the middle lane may be used with caution.

In the case of one-way lanes, it is prohibited to change over to other lanes, except on lanes marked with the same destinations. Upcoming lanes are marked by "Advance notice sign with lane division on main roads" (438/439), "Direction notice for lanes on main road" (441/442) and "Get in lane arrows" (606).

If there is no tram, left turners are allowed to use their driving area.
