Driving Rules

Behavior on steep roads and mountain roads

If it is not possible to cross similar vehicles on steep roads and mountain roads, the vehicle traveling downhill must travel backwards, unless the other is close to an exit point. For crossing with unequally sized vehicles the same rules apply as for crossing on a narrow road.

Observe the signs and directions of the drivers of public transport on the mountain post road (signal 405), especially on difficult crossings and overtaking.

12 Speed

The driver is only allowed to drive so fast that he can stop within the visible distance. Where crossing is difficult (e.g. on narrow roads), he must be able to stop within half the range of visibility.

The speed must always be adapted to the circumstances (for example, poor visibility). Where the vehicle could disturb the traffic, the driver should drive slowly and if necessary stop. Especially in the case of unclear spots, at junctions in the road which do not have clear visibility, as well as at railway crossings. In case of confusing junctions, make sure you are ready to brake.

In heavy rain, there is the risk of aquaplaning (risk of skidding), so speed must be moderated.
