4 Driving license on probation If you acquire a class A or B driving license, you will be given the driving license for a three-year trial period after completing the driving test. The driving license is issued indefinitely when the probationary period has elapsed and the holder has participated in a state-recognized, mandatory training course. The course lasts 7 hours and is carried out in one day. The training must be attended within 12 months after acquiring of the probationary driving license. If the holders probationary license is revoked due to a violation, the trial period is extended by one year. In case of repeated violations, the driving license will be forfeited. ![]() 5 Before driving Vehicles may only be operated in a safe and correct condition. They must be in a condition and maintained in such a way, that the traffic rules can be followed. The driver must always take along their driving license/provisional license and vehicle registration. He must make sure that the vehicle and the load are in proper condition and that the necessary accessories, such as the breakdown signal, are available. After repairs and washing of the vehicle, the brakes must be checked. Lights, reflectors, windscreens and mirrors must be kept clean. Furthermore, license plates, speed indicators etc. must be kept in a legible condition. Loading, load carriers and work equipment must be secured before driving and must not obscure the license plates or the vehicle lights.
